The home video version might not affect the story or plot, but the changes to episode 18 do seem to convey the emotions of the scene better than a blank screen could. |

The masters provided to Right Stuf were from the television broadcast of Kare Kano. The home video version of Kare Kano had three episodes that were different than the broadcast version. Episodes 14 and 15 were recap episodes. The home video version changed the recap scenes to be without dialog and include various music selected to match the scenes shown. Episode 18 involved a turning point in Yukino and Arima's relationship. The television broadcast just showed a blank screen with the music and narration to tell the story, while the home video version added some tasteful stills to help tell the story. The stills are shown below.
